the bard of salford
john cooper clarke turns 63 today and he pretty much looks exactly the same as he did in the 70s.i read that he's touring in 2012 and that'd be a lot of fun to go to but i have the feeling it'll probably be uk/euro dates only.
oh,what a drag it is getting old
anita pallenberg is still one of my style icons to this day.she's still cool even at 68 but then certain people will just *always* be cool.
here's a pretty interesting and in-depth interview with her.

urban sprawl
i came across the work of this artist today whose themes include wildlife incorporated with urban decay, the sure-to-be-upcoming apocalypse of urban sprawl versus nature(think the scene in twelve monkeys where all of the zoo animals are freed but brighter).
there are quite a few pieces that involve sharks so naturally i'm into it.
check out more of josh keyes's art here.

iggy on the henry rollins show
the first bit where rollins speaks on politics vs rock and roll is pretty much my exact stance as well.and it's interesting to see him talk about the then upcoming 2008 elections as the 2012 elections are now at our doorstep
this whole thing makes me quite happy in fact.

david bowie i love you since i was 6 (actually probably 3)
it's incredibly hard to believe that today is david bowie's 65th birthday.
the most recent picture i could find was from 2011 and he still looks great.
my parents and i didn't always see eye to eye on music but thankfully my mom was kind of in love with david bowie when i was a kid thus starting my immediate appreciation for him.i have definite memories of dancing around in our apartment living room when my mom would put on the let's dance or young americans album.one of my favorite songs when i was four was definitely modern love.i'm going to have to try and steal my mom's glass spider tour tshirt one of these days.
i had never seen this version of the space oddity video until today.i think it's a lot more interesting than the more well-known video with his red mullet and acoustic from 72.but i have to admit the recording of the 72 version is better.regardless, this is definitely worth checking out.
i was lucky enough to see him live in 2002 i think it was.we were in such nosebleed seats that i actually had vertigo but it was all worth it in the end.
if you thought bowie's bulge was noticeable in labyrinth you should probably watch the rebel rebel video cause it's pretty much in your face the entire video
interesting bowie fact i learned today- in 1970 he formed a band called "The Hype" where everyone in the band dressed up as superheroes. apparently they were booed off of every stage and it was very shortlived.
i'm *pretty sure* this is my favorite bowie song but ask me on another day and i might say something else depending on my mood because they're just all so good.
when i was in high school i brought my best friend at the time julie down to the shore for family vacation with me.it was then that i learned that all through her life she always thought that in the song "fame" they were always singing "dave" instead of fame.i guess this was back in 95 or 96.ever since then i laugh every single time i hear the song.
