i have an insanely religious rightwing friend who went on a completely nutso tirade on my facebook today regarding the "morality" of masturbation. suddenly, this seems like the appropriate song for thurston thursday now.
Sad thing is there might actually be an interesting conversation hidden in there somewhere. Given the solitary nature of the "crime" :)...the whole question would hinge on establishing a Moral Truth because you couldn't claim that someone else was being harmed.* Could be a interesting.
What's not very interesting...is coming onto someone else's slab and acting like a moron...especially in the name of Morality...duh?
Nothing a little Sonic Youth can't drowned out.
*There might be circumstances where diddling yourself could be harmful to others...say while driving or while doing one's job as a greeter at Walmart, etc. but the issue wouldn't be the act itself.
agreed.the entire subject was even brought up because when i was in high school a friend of mine who died a couple years ago had the argument in the car with her on our way to a party-they completely disagreed with each other but it was a funny car ride because it mostly consisted of silly jokes about jerking off.i thought it'd bring back funny memories for everyone involved of our friend who had died.instead, it left bible passages, rick santorum endorsements, racist and homophobic idealogies, as well as personal verbal attacks on anyone who didn't believe what she believed that were all war and peace length long.it ended in me deleting her.i feel no real remorse about it considering we weren't ever close and it turned out she was truly a certified whackjob.
there was a lot of her stating that no one else could debate with her on it backing anything with any fact.her facts coming from the bible and extremist republican bs. which was true, most of the comments were along the lines of "you're kidding me with this, right?" because everyone was incredulous as to what she was spouting,i replied once and then left it at "there's no point in trying to argue logic with an insane person".i know when to pick my battles and cut my losses.
